Comp for Saturday 31st August

A slight change to the scheduled “Hidden Holes” comp this Saturday 31st August. There will be a Single Stableford in conjunction, off the white tees and a qualifier. Please book your tee times at the clubhouse.

Neil Hardie Stableford

64 golfers competed in this years Neil Hardie Open Stableford competition, with near perfect golfing weather (in the morning!). William E Hendrie took the honors and the trophy with a great score of 43pts (20 hcp) In second place, with an equally blazing score, was Keith Sangster – 43pts (16 hcp) and third place went to Dougie Duncan – 40 (11 hcp).

The committee would like to thank all the players and hope to see you back to compete in next years Neil Hardie Open Stableford competition.

RBS Cup results

This years Royal Bank of Scotland Cup tournament was won by Eric¬† Wallace with a score of 156 (81, 75). In second place was Steven Jamieson with a score of 157 (81, 76) and in third place was Andrew (Toon) Brown with a score of 163 (83, 80).¬†Congratulations to Eric, and thanks to all who competed in this years’ RBS Cup.

RBS Cup – round 1

First round honors of the RBS Cup go to Brian Gillespie, with a score of nett 70 (84 – 14). Runner-up and low gross score was Kenny Gillespie nett 71 (81 – 10), with Eric Wallace in 3rd place with nett 74 (81 – 7).

The second is scheduled for Saturday 24th, so please check you tee times at the clubhouse.

Royal Bank Cup

Due to adverse weather conditions, the Royal Bank Cup 1st round has been postponed until tomorrow Sunday 18th August, with the 2nd round being played next Saturday 24th August. Please confirm your tee times for both days.

Letterfindlay 3 person Texas Scramble

The competition was hot (and the day was mediocre!) as 15 teams competed for this years Letterfindlay 3 person Texas Scramble. 3 teams carded sub-60 scores with the young blokes finishing in the top spot, so congratulations are in order for Andrew (toon) Brown, William E Hendrie ans Stephen Howden with a nett score of 57 (64 – 7). In 2nd place with a nett score of 58 (66 – 8) was Brian Gillespie, David Martin and Neil Feggans. 3rd place honors went to the team of David Laing, Peter Laing and John Ferguson also with a nett 58 (65 – 07).

Senior Open – 9th August

36 golfers from various clubs participated in the 2013 Fort William Senior Open Championship, and a great day it was too. This years Champion is Ronald Harvey from Inverness GC, with a nett score of 63 (82 – 19), congratulations and we hope to see Ronald defend his title in 2014. Runner-up, also from Inverness GC was Peter Sinclair with a nett 64 (73 -9) and in third place was our own Alex Stewart with a nett 66 (79 – 13). The low gross was won by scratch golfer Lawrie Chancellor of Inverness GC, with a great score 0f 69. Second low gross went to John Perry of Tillycoutry GC with 79 and in third place was Willie Duncan with 80 shots on the card (somehow beat the Australian on a count-back!). Thanks everyone for a great turnout and we hope to see you at next years Fort William Senior Open.

August Senior Medal

In a hotly faught contest against the elements (and the rest of the field) the “in-form” Willy McCann finishes in 1st place, excellent play. Andrew Brown finished 2nd on a countback with Toby Richardson in 3rd place.

September sees the last of this years’ Medals, so sharpen ya blades and polish ya balls for an exciting end to a great season of golf at “the Fort”. See ya on the Tee.

August Medal

The 3rd of August was yet another glorious day and Fort William Golf Club saw the brave do battle again! Winner of the August Medal was David MacPherson with a nett score of 74 (86 gross), second place – on a countback went to Peter Stewart with a score of nett 78 and in third place was Frank Sweeney – nett 78.
